Tom’s Hardware is an online publication focused on technology that was founded in 1996 by a German medic[2] Dr. Tom Pabst. Tom's Hardware is owned by Bestofmedia Group company, one of the top three online publishers for technology in the world.[3]
Tom's Hardware provides articles, news, price comparisons, videos and reviews on computer hardware and high technology. The site features coverage on CPUs, motherboards, RAM, graphics and displays, storage, and computer peripherals. Tom's Hardware has a forum and featured blogs. A unique aspect of Tom's Hardware is the "Build your Own" section where readers can learn how to build their own computers. Tom's Hardware readers are tech enthusiasts, high-tech buyers, consumers, information technology decision makers, purchasing influencers, and industry analysts. It is published in several languages.

- February 2008 Presence-Pc become the French version of Tom's Hardware[9]
- October 2007 – TG Publishing LLC Changes Name to Bestofmedia LLC, part of Bestofmedia Group.[10]
- September 2007 – Company rebrands TwitchGuru to Tom's Games and Gear Digest to Tom's Guide.[11]
- June 2007 – Antoine Boulin appointed CEO of TG Publishing LLC, a Bestofmedia Group company.[12]
- June 2007 – Partnership with John Wiley & Sons to deliver the Universal Command Guide for Operating Systems online.[13]
- April 2007 – TG Publishing LLC and Bestofmedia Group Merger moves the company to the top 3 ranked sites for online technology publications [3]
- February 2007 – TG Publishing LLC Launches Gear Digest, the Online Resource for Consumer Electronics and Technology Products.[14]
- September 2006 – Intel's CEO, Paul Otellini, refers to Tom's Hardware as his favorite tech website and quotes the site at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF).[15]
- November 2006 – TG Publishing LLC Launches Merchant Hound for Online Price Comparisons.[16]

- September 2000 – Set up of "compubizz" – a B2B portal for computer hardware, in joint venture with Newtron AG, a provider of B2B software, and BMP, a German venture capitalist.
- September 2000 – Tom’s Hardware publishes product reviews of Intel's 1.13 GHz processor. Intel withdraws the 1.13 GHz processor from the market.[22][23][24][25][26]

- September 1997 – IBM becomes advertising partner for the company.
- June 1997 – American Megatrends book the site for $10,000 per month.
- March 1997 – The New York Times reports that Intel withdraws its unsuccessful attempt to influence Tom's Hardware and other media publications. Several Intel executives violated their own company's policy by threatening to withdraw advertising due to unflattering and unauthorized media product reviews.[33]
